This client was referred to us by a faux finisher. They had met and could not come up with any ideas to add color to the space. She wanted to bring some color into her life on a small budget.
The space was very angular. The concrete floors made it industrial. She had some basic furnishings but nothing that added color. I determined it needed some femininity to soften it.
I presented the oversized floral wallcovering. Its supersized fuchsia lilies added a dramatic burst of color. We used the green color in the wallpaper on the kitchen walls to contrast the maple cabinets. Stripes were added to the living space to add energy and visually separate it from the kitchen.
The two story entry was painted mango and the mosaic light fixture was added to the space. A whimsical chest with tone on tone stripes replaced a tired rustic entry table.
The upstairs den/office needed a focal point. We painted two 4' hot pink circles between the windows. On the circles we installed bracket-less shelves and used them to display some of her fanciful cowboy boots. A pink stripe was painted behind the flat screen TV to anchor it and spread the pink around the room.
The master suite art influenced the color choices for the bed and bath. We painted the bedroom ceiling and bed wall the peacock color of the painting’s eggs. A silhouette of the headboard shape was added for drama. Stripes were added to the bath.
